Description
This course is offered in person and online with live instructors. The course delivers practical de-escalation training for public safety communications and records professionals who manage high stress interactions where clear communication and steady control directly influence outcomes.
Designed for 9-1-1 call takers, dispatchers, and public safety records technicians, the course strengthens techniques that help reduce escalation, maintain professionalism, and support safer resolutions. Participants will practice communication methods that improve rapport, increase cooperation, and sharpen information gathering, while reinforcing standards that protect the public, the agency, and the professional.
Tuition and funding
This training is provided at no cost to eligible participants through a U.S. Department of Justice COPS grant supporting de-escalation training provided by The Kim Turner Foundation. A 501(c) (3) non-profit dedicated to research, training, and wellness of the 9-1-1 community.
Eligibility requirement
Registration is limited to active 9-1-1 call takers, dispatchers, or public safety records technicians employed by a public safety agency in the United States. Eligibility verification may be required. All students must follow the protocols for pre-requisites.
Prerequisites
- All students must be actively employed as a 9-1-1 dispatcher, call-taker, telecommunicator, supervisor or Records Clerk, Technician, or Supervisor in the US or US territories.
- All students must have their own individual electronic device (laptop, desktop, tablet)
- All students must register with their agency email addresses.
- All students may not register for more than one presentation nor complete more than one presentation
