This course explores the active shooter mentality, tactical considerations and the impact on dispatch operations through the use of current and relevant case studies.

Description

Course Overview

This course provides a comprehensive look at active threat response from the perspective of 9-1-1 dispatch and tactical personnel.

Participants will gain an understanding of:

  • The current trend patterns associated with active threats
  • Strategic and tactical considerations for coordinated response
  • The critical role of 9-1-1 dispatch in directing successful outcomes

Through analysis of past incidents and discussion of current best practices, 9-1-1 and field first responders will strengthen their ability to work together effectively in crisis situations.

This course is certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) boards of California, New Mexico, and Michigan. It is co-facilitated by a veteran SWAT Team Leader to highlight the importance of dispatch-field collaboration.

Please note that while the subject matter is serious, the course focuses on preparation and prevention. The goal is to enhance coordination between 9-1-1 professionals and law enforcement when responding to active threats, in order to save lives and protect communities.

Prerequisites

Active duty 9-1-1 first responder (dispatcher/telecommunicator), police officer, or fire fighter.
